What it is:
Berks County’s newest eatery opened to much buzz and anticipation. The Wyomissing location is the newest of 3 Laxmis Indian Grille Restaurants in the southeastern Pennsylvania area, two other locations are in the Philadelphia area.
Located near the Berkshire Mall with plenty of parking and convenient from 222 it made for the perfect weekend lunch destination.
The menu is full of reasonably priced light bites and full entrees. The owner said, dietary substitutions can easily be made for vegans, vegetarians and gluten free folks.

Why would you want it:
The whole experience was a fragrant dining pleasure and rare find in Berks. You will enjoy the laid back atmosphere. By this I mean do not expect fast food. Each dish should be savored and is freshly prepared. If you are in a hurry call ahead and take out.
When seated you will be presented with crispy flatbread and 3 colorful, savory sauces. Even though we visited for lunch we each ordered a different appetizer. I enjoyed the vegetable fritters. A basket of naan was ordered (which we did not receive until well after our entrees were served, because it is freshly prepared…remember I said you will need to accommodate to their seeing speed which is not hurried). There was so much naan and it was lovely!
We ordered Lamb Curry, Dal Tadka and Chicken Korma. Each dish was so fragrant and rich. I’d like to note the chef is light on heat. We ordered medium which was much more like mild. The serving sizes were generous.
So… why would you want it?
- It’s easy to get to Laxmis Grille or order online
- You are looking for a place to unwind were food is slowly prepared instead of flash cooked. This allows time to enjoy the company of your dining pals, unhurried.
- The food is so fragrant and fresh!
- The prices are reasonable and the menu is accommodating.

Tried it in Friday night. Agree completely with your spice thermometer, wonder if there’s an extra spicy, lol! Please view my comments on Yelp. It was packed at 5 pm, so make a reservation if you can.

Janet, I’ll try to find you on Yelp! We’ll have to get a handle on the heat thing.
